Well, as to ever admitting having an STD/STI, it is vitally important that you are honest with your sexual partners about your history. It just wouldn't be in good conscience to not be. In that case, everyone should be able to confide that, for safety's sake.
On the other hand, it's not really the business of anyone who isn't a medical professional/sexual partner, so whether someone talks about their STD/STI is personal. However, contracting a disease or infection doesn't say anything about a person. It could speak of carelessness, or multiple sex partners but again, if you're not this person's partner or doctor, it's really nobody's business but their own. People who have STDs/STIs aren't any different or less 'clean' than anyone else. In fact, STDs/STIs are so rampant among teenagers right now, chances are you know a few who have one or have had one in the past.
The important thing is to be careful and practice safer sex at all times.
I'm terrified of STDs so I made sure my partner was 100% heathly as far as this is concerned before we got rid of the rubber. A friend of mine suffered from a type of STD and then his girlfriend also got infected. They had to be treated for it and they couldn't get rid of it for two months or so - the rash just wouldn't disappear. And that meant no sex during that time! They claimed they were faithful so I don't know how they got the thing. All of you out there who don't have a regular partner - condoms are mandatory! It's not worth it!
